HOW YOU CAN SUPPORT BART’S CAUSE

Writing or communicating with Bart through regular mail or e-mail is always welcome.  You can further help Bart’s cause by writing or introducing our team to media professionals you may know that may be interested in reporting on this extraordinary case.  Below is a list of television and print media for the Bloomington and surrounding areas in order to bring Bart’s story to their news director’s attention.  Drawing attention to Bart’s case to a national and international audience is very important as it applies pressure to those in charge of Bart’s incarceration to do the right thing.  So we encourage you to spread the word through those you may know through letters, phone calls, Blog Posts, e-mails, or to spread the word through your social contacts such as Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, to name just a few.  Donations made to Bart are placed into his prison account so he can purchase items at the prison commissary.  As Bart’s freedom nears, a Go Fund me page will be created as once the doors swing open for Bart to leave, the State of Illinois does not provide anything other than the street clothes they walk out with.  Upon his release Bart will require a vehicle, housing, food, computer and a host of things in order to get his life back in order.  He will inevitably need to get a job.  At the time of his anticipated release, he will be 63 years old.  Not having worked since the time he was 39 years old.

BELOW IS WHERE LETTERS AND E-MAILS PROTESTING BART’S INCARCERATION OR E-MAILS MAY BE SENT
Don Knapp, McLean County State’s Attorney
stateattny@mcleancountyil.gov

McLean County is the jurisdiction in which Bart was wrongfully convicted.  It just so happens to also be the same exact jurisdiction Misook Nowlin was convicted 14 years later (in 2012) for the strangulation murder of Mrs. Wenlan Linda Tyda.  Let McLean County State’s Attorney Don Knapp know that based upon all the facts that you believe Bart is an innocent man and that a travesty of justice has occurred that needs correcting.  Both Barton as well as the ultimate victim in this story, 3-year old Christina McNeil, deserve better.  There can be no justice until the murder of Christina McNeil is charged and convicted.

JOURNALISTS.  The media, their zeal for “the truth” frequently plays a key role in bringing public attention to wrongful convictions.  And putting pressure upon the justice system to right wrongs as for our American society to be strong, there needs to be an adherence to our Pledge of Allegiance, namely “and Justice for All”.  The simple act of reaching out to your local media to write about, or follow a story, can have far and wide reaching positive repercussions.  The following is radio, print and television media that service the Bloomington and larger Illinois markets.
